Grandma Snuggles

posted on: Saturday, April 30, 2011

My mom is head over heels in love with Káel! It was such a treat for me to be able to enjoy him with her on our trip to Dallas this past weekend. I had been kind of bummed that she was seeing him while he was sick because, being such a flirt/ham/cute little stink bug, his personality was toned down. The last day of our trip, he started feeling better and had some extra love snuggles with Grandma while watching the Disney movie, Enchanted. (Which he LOVES!) There were giggles, happy little squeals and lots of cuddles and kisses.

Oh, guess whose been sleeping through the WHOLE ENTIRE night since coming back from Texas? Yep, from 8:30-8:30! It's a heaven that I'm enjoying to the fullest! Well, my little traveling boy is scooting his way into the kitchen, I better go corral him back into the living room! Enjoy your weekend lovelies!

Easter Weekend Part 1

posted on: Friday, April 29, 2011

Our Easter weekend was amazing! We had a surprise, a last minute trip to Dallas that was a blast! Little boy was still a little sick but, was the sweetest trooper and managed to give sweet smiles the whole time. These are some pics from a trip to my Gran's house the day before we left. This is the play room that I grew up playing in with the same toys and my first crib at my Gran's! It was amazing to get some pictures of my Forest boy in there. What a treat for my heart! We spent a couple hours going through and scanning old pictures, while Káel giggled and explored the "new" toys and played with the dogs. (He LOVED the puppy dogs!) I have loads more that I'll share soon, including some pics of when I was little playing with some of the very same toys! *sniff, sniff* My baby is getting so big! Oh, I thought I should mention that a little certain someone had pulled himself up in his crib when I walked in this morning!

My parents were in heaven, especially since they haven't seen him since Christmas. Enjoy the pics, beauties.
this big bird was one of my favorite friends when i was little

Fever Scare

I knew it was going to happen eventually. Baby with fever, mom up all night, dad worrying, neither one of us really knowing what to do...

I'm laying here in bed even though it's 10 am, I just woke up. Last night was pretty rough and I'm half awake. We were supposed to go over to a friends house for a night of worship last night but we decided to stay home because I was still getting over whatever junk I had. (I'm pretty much all better now.) Well, thank God we didn't go because around 8pm Káel got a fever that made him miserable. He had fought every nap that day, so I put him to bed a little early, around 7. His temp. started out at 100 then climbed to 101.5 by 2:30am. I was a mess that seemed calm. We tried putting him in bed with us, wet cloths, water, blankets, then no blankets. He would sleep in intervals of 20-40 min. I woke up countless times to go check on him once we put him in his crib again. He was so hot and uncomfortable...it broke my heart.  I have to say, my twitter feed was very helpful in calming my heart and giving me advice as I would wake up at wee hours this morning. I'd check it after I went to soothe my struggling baby. So was my facebook this morning. Thank you guys SO much for the advice, love and prayers...for reals, you have no idea.

Little boy has been out cold since 6:30am which is crazy good. He usually wakes up around then for a feeding, he ate most of it.  His fever seems to have gone back down to pretty much normal and it is raining really hard which always helps him sleep longer in the morning. I'm open to tips on what you would do in that situation. Any remedies or solutions that work especially good for your kids? What about flying? We are flying out to Dallas tomorrow, hopefully he will be ALL better by then but what if there is a little lingering? I'm open to tips and suggestions. Thanks...

Sick...So it Goes

posted on: Thursday, April 21, 2011

Yesterday was a "I feel like yuck, so I'm going to stay in my pajamas and ask my husband to get me chicken noodle soup" kind of day. It seems that I caught whatever Samuel had last week, which he caught from Káel the week before. Seeing I felt like a volleyball was shoved up inside my head, with a bit of fever, I didn't feel like doing much of anything except cuddling with my husband and a fuzzy blanket on the couch. Sam was my angel all day, taking care of Forest boy and going out to get me anything my heart desired. Káel happily played with his train while Sam and I watched a couple of episodes of the Cosby show (which will always make you feel better) and a sweet movie. I don't get sick very often but when I do, I fight like crazy not to give into it. Toward the end of the day, I caved, allowing myself to be vulnerable and needy. I finished the day with a nice, long jacuzzi spa time and enjoyed little mister man before he went to sleep.

I feel better today and am looking forward to finishing several of my half written, backed up blog posts. I'm excited about this coming weekend, oh goodness! I will tell you more about that tomorrow. I'm going to go make myself lovely now, dearies. Have a beautiful Thursday.

Please take a minute and click on the pretty pick button in the left hand, top corner of my blog for me today. Then find boho baby bump on the list and click the yellow thumbs up button to vote for us. Someone nominated me for the Top 25 Moms With Style on Circle of Moms and it has really opened our blog up to new readership, which I LOVE! Thanks beautifuls.

Train Love

posted on: Wednesday, April 20, 2011

My mom bought this vintage train for Káel (more for decoration than anything) before I even had him. One morning, when I was rushing around trying to get ready and finding that I had a very adventurous little scooter on my hands, I grabbed this toy off the shelf and gave it to him to play with. I realized several minutes later that I heard no frustrated grunts or head bumps from my room. I peeked my head around the corner from my bathroom and there he was...sitting right where I had left him, talking happily to his new friend...the train. It is his favorite toy right now. The string connected to the train gets him so excited that he will sit in one spot for 20 min, squealing and talking to it, holding it over his head like a trophy.  haha. It's a precious sight to see. I'm finding that watching our boy enjoy something is my favorite thing in the world.

My Boho Days

posted on: Tuesday, April 19, 2011

After seeing some of my fellow bloggers do features on their blogs where they document their day for you to see, I decided to do some of that myself. I really enjoyed doing it and think I will create more posts like this in the future. It kinda made me stop and savor each precious little moment as it happened throughout the day.

This was our Thursday. Thursday was my "get ready for garage sale day"...so much fun. That day, I discovered that Forest boy likes to eat Urban Outfitter tags and enjoys pulling stuff out from under our bed. Sam made me a yummy breakfast before I started working on the garage and after his morning nap we took little man on a walk into town. After that, I made us some stir-fry, as my men provided beautiful music for me on their pianos. ;) SWEETEST moment of the day. Káel helped his daddy finish up our taxes as I went on a purging/organizing spree throughout the house and garage. I kept finding stuff that was cluttering my spaces and it felt so good to get it out.

After some hours of putting my little sale together, I brought Káel out to the garage with me to help me and where he could play. Daylight started to windup and it was time to get ready to go to my favorite thing in Charlotte, "Wive's Club"! WC is just a bunch of us wives that get together to talk, laugh, cry, encourage and support one another in our day to day lives as wives and moms. It's the bestest! I usually leave little man at home, but decided to bring him so that he could see some of his friends. He loved playing with Micah, my friend Lorean's baby girl. So, there's my day for ya! Enjoy loves!
