Coconut Oil

I love coconut oil!  I use it for lip balm, lotion, cooking and several other things! It's pretty much amazing. It's anti-inflamatory, anti-microbial, anti-viral and helps you to absorb more nutrients from your food. You can use it for moisturizer and even deodorant.   Kael thinks it's pretty awesome, too.  He wanted to put some on his lips yesterday, so I let him. Then, I just watched as he continued to rub it all in his hair and eat finger scoops of it. He must have been listening to me earlier when I was telling Sam how good it is for curly hair...haha.  I figured the mess would be minimal and he was having fun experimenting with the texture. Needless to say,  Kael smells like a tropical beach boy. =)

Have you ever used coconut oil? Here is an amazing link that tells you over 100 different uses for it! CLICK HERE  Do you have a favorite recipe or usage for it? I'd love to hear!

  1. LOVE coconut oil. I started using it as my daily moisturizer at the beginning of my pregnancy, and continue to use it, not only on myself, but on my 8 week old baby boy! I'm convinced it would heal diaper rash, if we're ever unfortunate enough to experience that.

  2. I love coconut oil! Actually, I kind of do. I'm REALLY allergic to coconut. Once I accidentally used a shampoo with coconut extract and, oh my god, my head was on fire and red splotches grew all over my face and body. ICK! But, at the same time, I know how good it can be for you...so I use coconut oil on my son who, thankfully!, isn't allergic. It's so soft and great for his skin. He's only ever had one truly horrible case of diaper rash, and the coconut oil worked fabulously!

  4. we use it in all sorts of things - from dressings and cooking vegetables to our diaper wipe formula and hair de-frizzer. We adore it in this household and our two year old is just as much a fan! I got this great recipe for a dressing from Mama Natural. It's for a carrot salad - which for women is a super food. It's super easy! http://mamanatural.com/a-carrot-a-day-keeps-pms-at-bay/

  8. I'm also u huge fan of coconut oil. I'm using it as a moisturizer, face cream(mix with a beeswax, almond oil, lavendel oil and rose water), tooth paste(with baking soda) and hair conditioner. For cooking? Not enough :)

  10. I recommend drizzling liquified coconut oil over plain yogurt and frozen berries!!!!

Also wonderful in raw truffles (process coconut oil, cacao, almond or cashew butter, dried apricots, and shredded coconut; chill before eating).

    Love it for everything!

  14. If you should have pets, please keep it far from them. A dear friend lost her little dog when he got into her tasty supply. He aspirated the oil, and even surgery could not save him. A sad end with such a useful product. Namaste.
