Forest Friends

Micah Lyric is one of Káel's little buddies. She is the sweetest thing with the cutest smile and most endearing voice. Her momma, Lorean is pretty amazing and a dear lady love friend of mine. She has a pretty cool blog you should check out HERE. She is awesomeness. We were on the journey of being a baby spa around the same time so when both our babies finally decided to make their debut, they were destined to be friends. ;) Lorean's husband is an amazing illustrator, designer and videographer. Check out this stop animation vid he made, documenting Lorean's pregnancy. I think you will love it.

Tunes and Such...

The Civil Wars are one of my absolute FAVORITE bands right now. They have deep, sweet and raw textures in their melodies. Their voices blend with an old grace and perfection. If you haven't listened to their album you have missed a bit of beauty in your day. :) I've been listening to them all week in my house and thought you might enjoy some tunes and such. ;) Sam and I are going to a super bowl party at some friends of ours house now. I hope you have a lovely beginning of the week.

If you want to listen to their music you can check out The Civil Wars' website or click HERE.

Dinner Talk

I have very exciting news! Right after we made this little clip last night...Káel looked at Sam and SAID "DA DA"!!! Aaaaaahh!!! It was THE coolest thing! He just started doing this intense baby talk on Thursday night. While I was with my girlfriends, Sam sent me a video of him being put to bed, just jibber jabbering away. Makes my heart have so many warm and fuzzies. Sam was quite the proud daddy knowing that his boy's first words were "dada". ;) The last few days I've noticed Káel likes to talk after his morning nap and right before bed. Oh, by the way...excuse the pink bumbo chair, we thought we were buying green. We got home and low and behold, pink. We have never stopped to take it back. So, yeah. haha. It's been kinda a hard week so Forest boy's little conversations have been the best thing for my heart. Eeee! I love my boy. Enjoy.

5 Months Old

posted on: Thursday, February 3, 2011

Have you been having a lovely February so far? I have some really neato news! The blog has reached a whopping 400 followers! Oh my goodness. Wow. I'm excited to meet you guys as you peek in and enjoy the tid bits and musings here. It makes me smile to hear about you and your families. So, please drop me a line or scribble a comment. Hey, hey and welcome lovelies!

My little handsome is 5 months old already. Is that even possible? I find my days are more colorful and humorous than they were in the early days of Forest's babiness. His smiles, expressions that I interpret as a number of thoughts, make me laugh all throughout the day. One of my friends told me that as they grow some of the things that were hard early on will get easier and some of the things that were easy will get more difficult. um...WORD. haha. Where I used to just lay him down and he'd be content for long periods of time...now he constantly wants to move, explore and be a boy. Very loudly and vocally letting me know when he needs more distractions. Which, I love by the way. At times, when I just want to finish those last few dishes in the sink, it might cause me to sigh and blow a frustrated puff of air to tussle my bangs. It can be hard but when he busts out that smirk... it's over. I can't be upset. That is one of the easier things to me - He interacts with us SO much now. It makes the daily duties and caring so much more rewarding on the tired soul. He loves being on his belly and is starting to scoot. Most of the time he looks like he is sky diving. haha.

Little boy loves the computer and ceiling fans. He talks all time, telling me all his thoughts. *wink* His favorite thing to do is pull his blanket over his head then freak out because he doesn't always know how to pull it down. Then, he smiles and does it over and over again. He constantly is kicking his LEFT leg and is like a fish in the bathtub. He also loves sitting in his daddy's lap while he plays the piano. It's quite amazing and an awe filled moment when I walk in on those daddy/son times. Káel is genuinely fascinated and observant of Sam's fingers, realizing they are making the sounds. I love it. I love my handsomes.

I took these pics a couple days ago. Enjoy.

Two of my friends got hitched this weekend and I thought I'd share this neato vid of their engagement story...just because we love love stories and the fact that Mel and Tysen are SO amazing. I became friends with both of them when I lived in California a couple years ago and smile so big every time I think about them. Mel is a phenomenal tattoo artist and Tysen is a crazy amazing drummer from New Zealand.

Dinosaur Snowballs & Diapers

I don't know about you, but watching little kids play is one of my favorite choices of entertainment ever. We had play day at my house Thursday. It was fabulous and oh so entertaining as I watched the kids play and giggled about the craziness of motherhood. 6 of my girl friends came over to my house with their little babes for a day of laughing, playing and enjoying one another. There were 6 of us moms and and 9 little munchkins. HA. Yes, it was a mad house of awesomeness. Having heart friends to share your little mommy triumphs and woes with is one of the biggest gifts you can have as a person and as a mom. We laughed so hard talking about boobs, babies, butts and birth stories. When all was quiet at the end of the evening, I let out a happy sigh...it had been a fabulous day.

I'm going to add a new post called "Forest's Friends" next week and introduce you to all of little Forest boy's buddies. So, make sure to visit. It will be a cuteness overload.

Two of the older boys, Noah 2 yr., and Oliver 3 yr. were playing with a big batch of dinos that Oli had brought. They were in the breakfast nook for over half and hour throwing dinosaurs (safely) everywhere, over and over again. Oliver came up with the idea of pretending that the dinos were snowballs. So, on they went, pretending that these big toothed reptiles were wintery balls of wonder for their mini man, macho war. HAHA! It was amazing. They would look at each other triumphantly after a good throw as if they were guys at a football game celebrating a touch down. Oliver was making snow angels on the wood floor later that afternoon as well. What can I say? It was a magical, pretend winter wonderland at my house. ;)
