A Peak Into My Flavor of Living

Early 70's zipper sun dress I got for $5

Orange lamp from the 60's- $3
Retro Teal Metal School desk- $5
Vintage Afghan-$2

An old painting pallet I've used for a long while spontaneously got placed in one of the frames on my living room wall.

I like to use Mason Jars to trade out the seasons. In winter I put little pine cones in them, in the summer, bird seed...and paintbrushes. ;)
Plus, another vintage clock I found for a $1

When you come over to our house, you can leave your shoes in the old suitcase please.

My fireplace mantle is sprinkled with old books, clocks and bottles.
Including an old children's book I nailed on the wall.

...and another clock -$1...

...and yet another, one of my favs also found for the steal of a $1.
I collect old clocks-I've had a slight obsession with them for years.

Vintage Crochet Afghan-$3

Toodleloo.

Inspirations For Nursery

I really want to bring some organic material such as sticks or some bark into the room I thought this idea was a possibility. Just not so many pinks, after all-I'm having a little man adventurer not a forest princess this time 'round. ;)

I found this pic a while back and just really find inspiration in it for some reason.

I love this orange mid century styled chair! I'm going to need/want a nursing chair for sure. Preferably one that rocks, but we'll see.

The two above pics are the baby "retro mushroom" bedding I got for a STEAL! I'm going to pull on the avocado greens, in combo with the burnt oranges and robin egg shell blues.

I love this color pallet

My mom got this mobile for us-I found it on etsy!

I just can't wait to make forts with our boy.

These are curtains from Urban Outfitters that I am using as inspiration. I really like the pattern. It has a very boho-ethnic feel.

I've been looking for a mid-century dresser for my changing table. Although this is a little more contemporary then I want, I just enjoy this piece.

I really want to find something like this and repaint it! I'll put my changing pad on it and a couple of baskets for the diapers, and BAM! Perfect, vintage cuteness.

We are either going to paint woodsy/forest like trees or get decals such as these from etsy. I want to paint one of the walls this mustard/avocado color as well.

Did you ever catch fireflies growing up? I did, and they are one of my favorite things! So I want to try to create the look of fireflies in a jar for a night light/lamp. I was even thinking of the christmas lights or bulbs you can put a pulse fader on. :)

Anthropologie Style Baby Shower

Ok, so I found this on the Hostess Blog yesterday and had to share it! As baby shower culture has been brought upon me I've been looking into creative ideas for them. I'm not the biggest fan of pastel pinks and blues with little bubble cartoon storks flying around. Just not me.

I'm so excited! I'm like, Please, someone let me plan your shower!? Check this out! Ah!

Love, love, love the handmade owl drink sticks...mmmmmm....
The use of furniture is not only popular at weddings it seems... amazing use and splash of color!
OWLS!!!!!!!!
You know I'm lovin' the frames!
I think I'm going to do this in my baby room... I love it.

Chill Jess, Just Chill

So, I'm finding myself stuck...in time it feels like. Where is May going? I'm almost at the 2 month marker! Whoa.

The random, not totally baby related thing I'm contemplating lately is getting dreads (extension dreads that is) for the remainder of my pregnancy. It's something I've wanted to do for a long, long time and I think I'm going to do it. :) I'll be a big bellied woman with long boho dreads...I can get into that. :)

We shall see.

On another note, the baby's room is coming along I guess. If you call purging all the stuff that got stuffed into a room when we got married, "coming along." I had a break down at Babies R Us last night while there with Sam trying to pick out a crib. All of a sudden the joy and reality of the experience was turned upside down as everything avalanched down on me. I felt pressured by my own self to make a decision, pick something out, hurry, hurry, hurry.

Sam came to my rescue and told me he would save the day. We went home and he started the daunting task of getting all the bags and boxes out and going through them.

"Keep," "Throw away," "Give away," and "I have no idea" piles started to form and I started to feel loads of weight being lifted off me. I'm not alone, I'm not doing this alone.

The truth is, I'm going to be a kick butt amazing mom and Samuel is going to be crazy awesome dad. Sure, we may not know everything about having a new baby, but neither have thousands of other first time moms and pops. We'll figure it out. The main thing, I think for us is to chill, and enjoy this journey. What is life if you can't enjoy it through your own made up stresses?

Chill Jess, just chill.

Do It Up Doula Style

So, my first mother's day came and went with a smile. :) A trip to the zoo was fantastic but I, like a dummy wore new converse sneakers without socks. Blisters. Finally by the last stretch of the day I came to my senses and tracked bare footed through out the rest of the safari.

I really felt "pregnant" yesterday. I suddenly found my in-shape, ready for adventure of any kind of self lagging to the back of the pack as our family outing advanced throughout the day. It was quite humorous to me.

One recent happening in our baby daily life is that we've hired a doula. Molly Paterson the Amazing. She's incredible! Samuel and I connected so deeply with her I finally feel confident through and through to birth this baby.

I didn't have a clue what a doula was before I got the bump. A doula? Say what? How do you even pronounce that?

But now, I am finding that they are mother's greatest treasure for birthing. :) Bring on the message and aroma therapy baby! ;)

Molly is coming behind us, supporting us and helping Sam and I have an experience of a birth. It should be fun!

Week 26: Birthing Classes

We just had our last "once a month" midwife checkups. From now on, two a month baby.

It's so crazy to realize how quickly the third trimester snuck up on me. 6 mo? No, no no...I'm only around 5, right? Wrong Jess, way wrong. Ha!

All those pushed back thoughts on birthing classes and birthing method books that were given to me in the "early" prego days, collecting dust bunnies are quickly pulled out of the darkness. AAAAAAH! 3 mo. all of a sudden sounds so very close.

We have been investigating birthing classes. Geez louise there are so many different types. Thankfully, I have read enough and know myself enough to sift through what is me and what isn't.

After looking into and getting my heart set on the "Bradley Method" classes my hopes were dashed to find out we were to late to sign up. "Too many in our class." Etc. I cried.

But, then, there was a light at the end of the tunnel, I found another Bradley class that's pretty close and they have one more spot! Yay!

So, I'm in the midst of embracing my 3rd Trimester, sifting through and weighing out peoples opinions, advice some wanted some....not. ha! Exciting times...adventure everywhere.
